How To Style Spring 2023 Couture Trends
One of my favorite times of year is the Spring Couture shows. Ready to burst of of the long dark days of winter with layers of color and ruffles for days. Fewer than 500 customers worldwide actually buy haute couture, with about 150 regular clients attending the Paris shows twice a year. The starting price for haute couture is $30,000. A gown taking 600 hours of handiwork or more can cost $100,000 and the jewellery millions. If you would like to know more about the history of Haute Couture give this post a gander! With such a small percentage of the population able to afford couture it may seem like what is the point of having it. Well two reasons I die for it even though I can’t personally afford to buy it (at this juncture) is number one it is a beautiful display of the best sewing artisans in the world. I mean it takes a team of people to complete just one look because, they are made by hand every single bead and seam. Reason number two the inspiration and joy I get from taking it all in. Depending on how avant garde the design is most of the pieces that come down the runway are not practical to wear unless you are attending to the met gala but, there is so much inspiration to be found! I wanted to put together pieces inspired from the couture shows and give you some ideas on how to incorporate them into the real world. I highlighted my favorite trends from all of the designer collections with pieces that you can shop now!
Candy Cotton Colors
This is definitely one of my favorite color trends from the couture shows this spring and really in life. Candy cotton and peach sorbet swirling delightfully down the catwalk. Whether is was the simple classic Chanel suit or volumes of tulle in these candy land colors I am here for it.
Golden Age
So much gold flowing down the runways in both spring couture and ready to wear. Gold is a really fun color to incorporate into your wardrobe! You can go full on disco glory with shine and sequins but, if that is too much there you can go with a softer look like the Valentino woven pant suit or Svala cork handbag. Think of it as another neutral option in your wardrobe. I personally love both options it is fun to have a splash of metallic shine in your wardrobe to wear when you are channeling your inner Beyonce, even if it’s only your shoes. My favorite combo with gold is white they just make a beautiful union, I mean a crisp pair of white jeans with a fun glittery gold pair of sneaks (insert chef’s kiss) is so simple yet adds just a splash of glam.
Mining For Gems
Another color pallet that speaks directly to my heart is the beautiful world of gem tones. There were lot’s of these rich colors making their way down the catwalk. My favorite collection full of these colors was the Alexis Mabille show, it had all of the colors of the gem tone rainbow. I melted when I saw the two tone embroidered bodice dress (pictured above) came out. Definitely giving me rises from the ashes phoenix vibes.
Making Bold Strides
I am a sucker for prints and was overjoyed with all of the beautiful prints in numerous collections! I especially love Amani Prive’s diamond prints on both the clothes and the runway giving court jester. Prints give so much energy to not only the look but to the person wearing them. It is as though the fabric is moving whilst staying in place. They don’t always have to be bold if you are not comfortable wearing prints and want to step out of your comfort zone start with soft prints or prints that use color for example an ombre or watercolor effect.
The Bigger The Sleeve
I love love love a dramatic sleeve and it is a really fun way to experiment with volume in your looks. It can really elevate your simple blazer into more of an art piece whether you go full drama like the Dris Van Noten blazer or something more delicate like the pink bows on the Cinq a Sept pink blazer. Even the simple bell sleeves on the Sacai jackets add so much interest with a lot of bells and wistles.
