Busy As A Baking Bee
Two of my favorite things in life are drag queens and baking! I mean who doesn’t love cupcakes. If you love baking cakes and cocktails with a Lucille Ball vintage style with a British accent then this is your jam Lucille L’queur. She makes fun decorating videos in vintage 50s style dresses. Super delish recipes on her blog that are a must. You can also easily substitute ingredients to make them vegan too! I really love baking I enjoy the whole process of it. ! I don’t get to do it as much as I would like to. A million moon ago when I worked in an office I baked all the time. It was fabulous because I could bake and have a place to bring to share the sweet treats. I mean working for myself at home if I make a batch of rice crispy treats that only leaves me to eat them.
What I love most about baking is the aroma wafting through the house yuuummm a fresh batch of blondies or cupcakes. Creating the color pallet and design. One year for a co-workers birthday I did a martini theme caked. I baked a sheet cake and carved it into a martini glass and frosted cupcakes into green olives. I mean it was super cute and really fun to make. It was a fun way to express myself in a different way while learning how to do something new. It became my thing, baking birthday cakes for my co workers. I love celebrating life! All of this talk of baking is making me want to make cookies.
I love everything about this t shirt I mean it really slides right into my wardrobe. I paired it with my rainbow leopard wide leg pants and crop denim jacket. I mean the pink color of the t shirt is perfect like I pulled it straight out of the leopard print. I love these pants they are so comfortable to wear and you get the that extra swoosh when you walk. This would also look super cute with sneakers. I wanted more of a ladies night vibe. Bars are open here but, to be quite frank I don’t have much desire to go out to bars even with my vaccine right now. I am totally down for zoom night out with the gals and yes I still put together a look for the occasion.
I had to wear my love belt with this outfit to further express my love for this shirt. I couldn’t help myself and had to throw another print to the mix with the phone purse. I love this thing it is perfect for those occasions you really don’t want to carry a purse. It fits your phone, plastic, and cash and that’s it thankfully I usually keep my keys in my bra. These mesh heels are so great they add a layer of texture and go with anything. I want to add a splash of red with the Bauble Bar tassel earrings to highlight Lucille’s red hair.
Playing around with color is one of my favorite things to do in life. It is good to have your staple go to colors but, it’s so much fun to experiment with bringing new colors into your wardrobe. It is also good practice finding new ways to mix colors and patterns that you already have. A fun project pull out a medley of prints from your closet and play around with mixing them together. Before you say no it would never work try it on marinate it a little.
The place to start is color. For example here the colors of the roses on the purse are in the same pallet as the rainbow leopard. At first glance they almost look like they are the same pattern. Next think about the shape and size of the prints. You want to layer prints in multiple sizes that create balance. You want the eye to be able to take in the different prints.
