Cranberry Picnic

It’s still winter but, I am bursting for spring. We had a few days of really warm no jacket weather and then boom back to winter cold. Here in San Francisco that is sort of the norm it is always a medley of winter and spring weather all year round. Which is the vibe of this look, a little crushed velvet and lightweight linen. During the work day I would wear this with sneakers and all I need to do to get ready for dance class is throw my boots on. Keeping things simple without a lot of outfit changes is my goal.

When I used to work in an office I never changed my outfit. I sitting in my cubicle for ten hours a day so there really wasn’t much of a need. When I left the 9-5 the biggest excitement and challenge was what am I going to wear now. The office I had worked at was a business casual dress code so it wasn’t a huge leap it was getting out of my pajamas. In the beginning just like with Covid (for most people) it was getting myself dressed for the day. The appeal of my pajamas was overwhelmingly calling me to stay in them. Why not, I don’t have to leave the house today I am just sewing. In the beginning it was fun but, after a spell I was itching to put some real clothes on.

I had to look at my days completely different because, my life was completely different. I could wear whatever I wanted but, that couldn’t be bed clothes everyday. Comfort and style are both really important to me! Working in fashion in both the design and styling, I can tell you a lot of people think that you are in full glam all of the time because, you are in fashion. Which is so not the case! Yes, I think it is important to me how I present myself but, I also have a lot of work that needs to happen and I need to be able to move freely in my clothes to do it. So it really inspired me to look at my wardrobe differently, start incorporating my “office” clothes in a more comfortable on the go way that fit my new life. My day is structured so differently now and need to be able to move through it without having to change my outfit. Looks like this that can wear to work and workout in at dance class.

There are so many reasons why we may need to change and rearrange our wardrobes. New job, moving to a new climate, physical changes I the list goes on. Whatever the reason is it can be overwhelming to redesign your closet on your own and if you find yourself in a closet loop then hiring a stylist may be what you need.
