Break In The Storm

We are having a very wet winter this year and the storms are causing some chaos! I love the rain it is so cleansing and refreshing. We have been hit with some pretty heavy storms and have days of non stop rain. Simon loves to hike and be outdoors but, is not a fan AT All of the rain so our normal romp schedule has been altered. When I woke up Sunday morning the sun was out so we decided to take advantage of it and get outdoors to shoot. It was actually Simon’s first photo shoot and I have to say he did really well! He has really fizzy energy and likes to be on the go, he gets impatient with me when we stop in one place to long. I wasn’t sure if he was going to get frustrated sitting in one place too long but, he did really well and I was able to get some shots with him! Posing is something we have to work on though, he is super smart and knows the commands but he is really stubborn. He spent some time on the streets before I adopted him so he is a boss - lol.

It ended up being a really nice day and this shoot was the perfect reason to spend it outside! If you live in San Francisco you may spot swings around the city that people put up I guess illegally because the city takes them down so, if you spot one jump on it while it is there. This one has been up for awhile and hopefully will stay! In my neighborhood there is this sort of secret garden pathway behind the houses along Mission street for good walk. It’s great being able to walk along the garden enjoy the quiet because, it is not on the busy street.

Towards the end there is this swing I was so excited to find it and I stop and swing every time we walk this route. I mean really anywhere I find a swing I take a moment to enjoy it, I find it so relaxing and invigorating. I initially thought we could shoot in the pathway and the swing but, bonus when we got there the path was blocked by fallen trees. Yes, I know you may be asking how can you be thankful for trees toppled over from the storm. Well because I am a roll with the punches type of person and nature is what it is. Things like this always remind me of acceptance and just doing what needs to be done. Life like nature is going to swoop in sometimes with things that knock you on your ass and you have two options stay there or readjust. Yes, sometimes things get broken like the shattered flower pots but, it is an opportunity to create something new. I had two options work the fallen trees into the shoot or find a different location. Obviously I used the trees I mean it ended up being perfect for the camo overalls and made the shoot better!

It was really fun climbing around on the tree albeit a little scary because, the wood was so drenched but thankfully nothing snapped on me! I know technically the tree was not in the ground but, I still felt really good after sitting on them for a spell. I sometimes struggle to ground myself in this reality which is why I hike and get into nature as much as possible. I can very easily drift off into other worlds and quite frankly most of the time I want to stay there. I am usually pretty on point with time when I am shooting but, this day I was lingering I was on the swing for over thirty minutes alone and wasn’t mad.
