50 Shades Of Violet
The color purple some love it, some loath it and some just are not sure how to wear it. Purple combines the best of both warm and cool worlds. The calmness and reliability of the blue are tempered with the wilder, fiery red. It is the color of our third eye intuition and connection with the higher self. I also recommend to my clients if they are feeling blocked in any of their chakras to wear the color associated with it to help unblock it.
Purple both calms and stimulates our bodies, putting us in the right place for introspection and focused insight. It fosters creativity by awakening our senses while promoting the quiet necessary to make intuitive, insightful observations. Purple creates a harmonious balance of awareness and peace.
The shortest wavelength is violet, often described as purple. It brings awareness to a higher level of thought, into the realms of spirituality. Purple is like the hanged man it encourages deep contemplation and meditation. It has always been associated with royalty, and it communicates the most excellent quality. As it is the last visible wavelength before the ultra-violet ray, it is associated with time and space, and the cosmos.
In the past, purple often represented royalty and higher society. It stood for sophistication, wealth, and luxury. Cleopatra was known to be crazy about the color purple. During those times, only the wealthy could wear shades of purple. Today, people who wear purple are creative, insightful, and have an intrinsic love for art.
There are so many shades of purple to choose from deep plum to lilac. Find a shade that best suits your skin tone and personality. It is made up of 50% red and 50% blue so it has both cool and warm undertones and practically goes with every color.
Look for pieces in a shade that strikes your fancy you can start incorporating into your existing wardrobe. Do you like more red undertone shades such as burgandy or claret? Or do you like blue purples like amethyst or lavender? You don’t have to step out in a full purple suit you can start with something small like accessories a cute purple handbag perhaps.

Purple + Red
Red and purple may not be your first thought because, they are not seen often paired together. They actually make a beautiful pairing because, purple is made of 50% red. This allows you alot of room to play around with red and purple color combinations. You can pair bright red with lavender or make hues or orange red with burgandy.
Patterns are a good way to start training your eye. For example the parrot print dress incorporates multiple colors that all coordinate with each other. You could pull any color from the print create a new look with other pieces from your wardobe.

Purple + Orange
Purple and orange are the perfect complimentary match. Like red purple goes well with orange because, it is made up of warm red tones of red.
Play around with the shades you like mixing and matching different shades like the looks below. You can pair a bright melon orange with deeper jewel tone shades or maybe a more rustic earthy orange. When you are playing with color the best thing you can do is experiment with putting the different shades together and see what works.

Purple + Green
Purple and green are one of my favorite color combinations. Whether you love neon green or more of an army green you can easily pair it with many different shades of purple. You can layer on the shades of purple like the green Caroline Herrara dress with the rich jewel tone coat and lighter lavender accessories. Or on the contrary layering on the same one of purple throughout with your accessories like the neon jumpsuit.
You don’t need to have the color wheels memorized or take a course in color theory. Although I recommend it if you have the urge to learn more) to start training your eye in color. I always suggest looking to nature, you will find the that everything is always colored in perfect balance. You will start to learn color though just observing, so the next time you are at the park or buying flowers take a minute to look at all of the color combinations.

Add a pop element to your neutrals with different shades of purple. The great thing about neutrals is that you have a lot of room to play with all of the shades of purple. I love layering on different shades of purple like in the looks below.
