How To Style An Aubergine Blazer

A blazer is a must foundation piece for every wardrobe, they are so versatile and will add diversity to your wardrobe. Aubergine is one of my favorite colors and it is a great alternative to black or navy blue. In different lights you get the different shades of blue and purple. I found this Talbot’s blazer gem at the thrift store! It is a little oversized and has nice big shoulder pads. I love a strong shoulder in a blazer it adds strength and broadens my shoulder line to balance out my lower body.

You know how much I love a catsuit (minus going to the bathroom) and my pollack print one was perfect for this look. Catsuits are so comfortable it makes perfect sense why babies and kids love wearing them although the fact that wear diapers may play a factor. Having a cute blazer is perfect thing to have to smarten up any look! For example a typical day starts at 6am I like to workout, do my light mask and visualize my day and put my face on. Simon and I head out about 9:30a to hit the trails and hike it up so being comfortable is key. As for the rest of the day that varies I may have a pre shop to do for a client, I may have a bunch of computer work to do ect and I really don’t have time for costume changes. So this is the perfect example of an outfit that can easily evolve throughout the day. Pair it with a pair of cute sneaks and hoodie for hiking, then head straight to the mall afterwards. If I have a client meeting or social event planned in the evening I add my blazer and heels topped of with a cute bag I am ready to go.

Some people may think being a stylist means we are dressed to the nine’s wearing only the latest trending clothes everyday. The truth is that it is not that glamorous, like most things behind the scenes. I am not wearing platforms on a shopping day running around the mall. It is important to take into account of where we are right now in life and evolve our style around that. For example I used to work in an office at a desk in a cube I wore high heels almost everyday because, I was sitting in front of a computer 9 hours a day. My life now as an entrepreneur is very different and I rarely wear heels during the day because, I am on the go and need to be comfortable. So it is important to me to have pieces that can transition throughout the day. My look has evolved over the years to fit where I am in life but, my core style is the same.

A concern I hear from a lot of my clients is because, they have gone through major transitions in life they feel as though their style must completely change. For example you change jobs you once working in an office with a strict professional dress code and you are moving to an office that is smart casual. Just like any and all habits the one’s we practice regularly become part of our identity. There is a feeling of who am I if I am not wearing a suit into the office everyday. This can sometimes cause anxiety thinking you have to create this whole new wardrobe. Which in my experience that rarely happens, it is about rearranging the pieces you currently have and adding key fundamental pieces into pull everything together.
