Danger! High Voltage

The energy of the mind is the essence of life.

Energy, in physics, the capacity for doing work. It may exist in potential, kinetic, thermal, electrical, chemical, nuclear, or other various forms. There are, moreover, heat and work—i.e., energy in the process of transfer from one body to another. After it has been transferred, energy is always designated according to its nature. Hence, heat transferred may become thermal energy, while work done may manifest itself in the form of mechanical energy.

All forms of energy are associated with motion. For example, any given body has kinetic energy if it is in motion. Energy can be neither created nor destroyed but only changed from one form to another. This principle is known as the conservation of energy or the first law of thermodynamics.

Energy can be converted from one form to another in various other ways. Usable mechanical or electrical energy is, for instance, produced by many kinds of devices, including fuel-burning heat engines, generators, batteries, fuel cells, and magnetohydrodynamic systems.

The beauty of energy is it's not linear it is always moving, bending, and transforming. It can change and shift instantly whether that being a shift of our mind or heating up a pan on the stove. It is always moving through us and boomerangs out into the world. It is one of the most important things we can do in this life is learn how to master our own energy. We have no control of what happens outside of us but, we do have control within and how we respond to it.

I didn’t always know how to protect my energy with both strangers and the company I was keeping. So many times I would leave these people feeling so drained I felt like I needed days of rest to recuperate. Learning how to share my energy in a way that didn’t leave me feeling depleted was life-changing! I learned how to refill my own tank and stopped expecting people or worse energy leaches to do so.

Many moons ago there was a chap at a company that I worked for that administered the Meyers Briggs test. It wasn’t required of the job just something we could do if we wanted to. I was totally into it and if I remember correctly I was an ENFP which was pretty on spot but, he also told me I had a strong introvert leaning as well. It totally made sense to me because, I love being around people I am a very social person butterflying around meeting new people learning from and about them but, I also really enjoy my alone time. I mean it is a necessity in my life to refuel my tank. I like spending time with myself in thought, creating art, going to the movies, exploring, I mean really anything that I am feeling the need to do.

This was the second piece I created out of the pink plaid. I am kind of obsessed right now with the off-the-shoulder look and wanted to keep the theme going with this fabric. I decided to go with a muumuu style dress which can be a little tricky for me because my shape gets lost in all the flow. I ended up making this in a bigger size than I needed because I couldn’t remember if I had preshrunk the fabric. This is fabric is a 100% cotton lightweight double-layer gauze so, it will shrink a lot. I think I gave myself a little more room than I needed but, I will have to wait and see what happens when I wash it. It is super comfortable though and makes me feel like I am at the lake or beach when I am wearing it.

It was also the perfect opportunity to wear this leopard belt. I have had it forever but, haven’t really had the right outfit to wear it with. I was so excited and I think it is a nice contrast print to the pink plaid. I found these wire-rimmed pink heart shades at Ross and was super thrilled to add a new pair of heart-shaped sunglasses to y collection. It really is the little things in life. I paired it with my white palm tree print wedges and bauble bar gold and white seashell cluster earrings. I really was feeling beach summer vibes in this look and we lucked out and had a few days of toasty weather to enjoy it in.

One of my favorite things to do is explore! Even if you don’t have the means to travel you can explore the place where you live. It is one of my favorite things about shooting my looks. I rarely have an exact shooting location in mind when I shoot, even when I do I am always open to that changing. Sometimes for whatever reason, I am not able to shoot there and I need to move on and find another location. I really believe whatever is meant to be mine will be mine. I don’t get upset when something doesn’t work out I think well there must be something better than this AND there always is.

This day was a perfect example of that. I was thinking that I wanted to shoot something in the pink range and I remembered a mural I had seen a while back in the Haight. I headed out that way looking for it and found it but, there were a few people who had set up camp right in front of it. So I thought okay well that won’t work for today but, let’s just keep going and see what we find. There is a lot of fun artwork and murals in the Haight District but, they aren’t always good to shoot because they are part of a storefront and there is not enough surface area to work with.

I kept driving until I hit the end and decided to turn around and head towards the Lower Haight. I drove by this one on a side street but, kept going. I ended up at first at a mural that caught my eye and there was a spot right in I pulled in and sat there for a minute and thinking about it but, I kept thinking about the other one I saw. So I decided to head back that way and check it out. There was also a spot right in front and when I pulled up I knew that this was it. The wind was blowing and the artwork got my mind spinning about energy. It is a good reminder in life to go with the flow of life.
